Bride Hall has lodged plans for a Morrisons-anchored supermarket, housing and hotel scheme in Hillingdon in London.
The proposals are for a 40,000 sq ft foodstore together with 100 homes above, an 82-bed hotel, and improvements to local transport facilities. The scheme is proposed for a site directly adjacent to Hillingdon Underground Station.
Morrisons has signed to anchor the foodstore.
Feedback provided to Bride Hall and Morrisons during the planning consultation process resulted in a number of refinements and improvements to the draft proposals, most significantly a reduction in the overall number of new homes from 200 to approximately 100 as part of consolidating the shape and size of the development together with improving the environment around the store.
Matthew Thomas, planning director for Bride Hall, said: “Our application is the result of tremendous hard work by everyone involved and no small amount of time and input from the Hillingdon community. That collaboration has really helped us to improve our draft ideas and we are confident we have an application that would deliver a suitable, beneficial and welcome re-use of this important site.
“It’s now up to the London Borough of Hillingdon to determine the scheme and we will look forward to more details on their timetable and to working through the planning process. Clearly, we hope that we will be able to secure a planning permission that, in turn, will secure the significant investment into both the environmental quality and economy that this scheme represents for the local area.”
Richard Haynes, development executive for Morrisons, said: “Bringing a new Morrisons to Hillingdon is about much more than just expanding shopping choice. That’s important but so are the 300 jobs, the 100 homes and all of the associated benefits that come with investing in Hillingdon and regenerating this site.”
“We’re grateful to all of the people that inputted to our plans and are delighted that we have an excellent application submitted and set to go in front of Hillingdon’s councillors for a decision in the near future.”
